Hi
My DS is 5 months. Where he had his vaccine it was really raised and red , last night it burst while he rolled over in his sleep. Lots of pus and lots of tears:(
Today it looks really sore and any time he rolls over he has a melt down so it's obviously very sore. I rang HV and they said it would be fine. He is feeding fine and is ok just seems a bit sleepier but I am putting this down to fact he can't get a full sleep when he rolls over and hurts it.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions to help ease his discomfort ?

How old was he when it was done? ie how recent is the BCG?
Ours was done at 6 weeks by a TB nurse. Have you got a phone no for the clinic? I'd ring them back if it was more than a week or so ago. BCG not common round here, only a few get it. You may need specialist advice rather than the general HV?
Our HV had to ask why we'd had BCG...

Im in London it was given to him when he was a day old in the hospital. I might bring him to doctor tomorrow if he still is in pain .

www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Search/q/GO%2BGLOW%2BLIGHT.htm there are links to fact sheets fir the bcg jab. Sores and pus are fairly common but can take a while to heal. Suggests a dry dressing (not a plaster). You could give pain relief too.

DS has the same thing. It grew into a massive lump then burst and became almost abscess like. It took a few days to stop oozing and settle down.

He was also awake and crying Hmm I gave calpol and tried to keep it dry until it healed over. I grew again a month later but then went a d is fine now 10 months on.
