My dd has very sore lips this was a problem last winter and it has reoccured. she has a habit of chewing her lips when concentrating and with the cold weather the skin round her lips is constantly red sore and scabby making her lips look double there size.
I'm encouraging vasaline as much as possible but any other ideas.

Hi kat. DS2 did this when he was in Year 3. It looked awful. like he had eaten a jam sandwich or something and really swollen. The cold weather made it ten times worse. He kept constantly licking and picking. Sad

We sent him to school with a lip balm and slathered the Vaseline on at night and eventually it got better.

We tried every lip salve going but none of them made much difference.

Thanks I hope we had got rid if it over the summer. She has just gone into y4. It just looks so sore have persaded school to allow her vasaline as lipbalm is banned in school!

I hated sending him in because it looked so awful, i did think parents were staring and thought he had Impetigo or something, it always looked so raw.

At about that time they decided Yr 3 would learn the flute. I wrote a note saying no and the teacher opened it in front of DS and said 'pathetic'. Angry

I normally find the best thing to do is when they are asleep put some Vaseline on them, make sure they are properly asleep though as otherwise you may wake them.

My 12yr daughter suffers with lips like this - over the years we have tried every lip balm/treatment known to man, but nothing has work as well as my recent discovery which I found at Home Bargains last week for the grand sum of 19p - it literally sorted her lips out overnight. I now have a dozen little tins of this in a drawer waiting to be used!

I've suffered similar most of my life in the winter, I make it worse by picking my lips when they get rough Confused . I find Blistex relief cream, applied every 2 hours when at its worst, always works.
