Dd 2 lost the 4 teeth from the top of her mouth around 5 months ago, the middle 2 adult teeth have came through but the ones next to them have not appeared ( can see them at all), should I be worried?

She has a mouth injury 2 years ago, hit her front teeth but I'm pretty sure it was just the front 2 that were knocked, the teeth appeared fine and there didn't seem to be any damage. Not sure if this could have effected her adult teeth??

My ds had one that didn't appear for ages so our dentist sent him for an X-ray to see if there was a tooth there.
It was fine and typically started breaking through a couple of weeks after the X-ray.

what age is she? Some teeth take longer to come through than others.

I only have 2 front teeth, the next two never came through. My dad has the same "fault". Dd has lost 4 bottom teeth, but only 3 have come back through. The dentist xrayed her bottom set after a year, and the missing tooth just isn't there.

Are you due to see the dentist any time soon?

Willdoitinaminute · 14/09/2013 19:01

It is unusual to lose all four teeth at the same time however it does happen when the middle two adult teeth cause resorption of the roots of all four baby teeth. This results in the two lateral teeth being lost prematurely. They will come through but not at the same time as the middle two so don't worry.
If they haven't appeared within 6 mths see your dentist. Sometimes they are missing(genetic) there is absolutely nothing you can do if they are missing but they may need cosmetic or orthodontic treatment later on.

She's 7.5 ,the front 2 fell out a week or two before the next 2, she also lost the bottom two around the same time (these have come through).

She has never been to the dentist, she has ASD and severe sensory issues so I may have to talk to her paediatrician to get a referral to the dentist at the hospital.

My other dd also has issues with the same 2 teeth, she does have them but they are set quite far back (almost in the roof of her mouth) and she will need braces to sort them out.

I've got the same issue with my dd1.

Just to give you an idea of the timescale for action, she's 9.5 now her top baby teeth fell out over a year ago but she still has no adult front teeth. She's went to the orthodontist about 6 months ago and is due to go back in a couple of weeks.

At the first visit she had an x-ray to make sure all her adult teeth are there (they are). We've been told that if her teeth still haven't come through by the 2nd visit (they haven't) they'll do something - I'm not sure what but I guess an operation, I had similar when I was her age.

Sad your poor dd profYaffle, I hope she doesn't need surgery.

I always assumed the baby teeth fell out as the adult teeth push them out, with most of her teeth you could see the adult tooth when the baby tooth came out. With these theres no sign of anything (just smooth gums), I guess we should start looking for a dentist.

www.coloradokidsdental.com/tooth-eruption.html - this says that those teeth erupt around the age of 8-9 after the baby teeth being lost around the age of 7-8 years so the timings sound about right for your dd.

Thank you ilovepowerhoop hopefully they will come through in their own time.
