Toddler complaining about ears?

DS is 2 years 7 months. Recently he has said that certain places/things are 'too loud' and covered his ears with his hands. I wasn't worried about this, thought it was just a 'thing'.

Yesterday he said "oh no I can't see it" and pointed to his left ear. I tried to ask him more but he soon forgot about it. Then just now he came up and said "mummy noise gone" and pointed to his left ear again.

I would take him to the doctor this morning but I have to be monitored at the hospital at 10 am (poss preeclampsia...). Should I take him to walk in centre or something later or should I just take him to the doc next week? Any ideas what could be wrong?

He shows no sign of speech or language delay, dances to music, sings, 'reads' books aloud etc. So I'm thinking more glue ear type thing than permanent damage?

Thanks, it's just taken me completely by surprise! I'll try and get an appointment for much later today and then hopefully it won't clash with whatever hospital end up doing with me :)

Could be an ear infection, possibly a burst ear drum if he can't hear at all on that side.

His left ear is completely blocked with wax poor thing. I anticipate much fun with olive oil drops ahead...
