large,hard,itchy but 'achy'lump on teenage daughter's leg

she's 15 and this has come up over the last couple of days.It's rather large and very hard. Can't seem to find any 'fang' marks like a bite but it's very itchy all around the lump but also aches.Anyone any idea what this might be??

I think any lump that appears on the body needs to be checked out by the GP - it's probably harmless (there are dozens of reasons why we get lumps and bumps on our bodies) but no harm in getting it seen.

yeah i know it's panicking me a bit.It's also quite hot to touch aswell.Just wondered if anyone had any idea what it might be. Thankyou x
