Dd has threadworms so I've of course been googling what to do and read that once you've got them you have them forever only keeping them under control. Is this true or is there hope that meds and good hygiene will win the battle?

Any worms that die are expelled by the body in the waste. They are not left behind to decompose. What a load of cobblers. I really wouldn't stress.
