Tonsillitis or something else only 12MO

I hope someone can help. I think I may be paranoid but im a little worried.

On Tuesday my DS had a temperature of 38.8 and a non-blanching rash all over his body. GP advised throat looks a little red but could not pinpoint infection calpol to be given. Calpol worked for a few hours and then temperature increased to 39.2 DS completely listless very sleepy and floppy.
Took to out of hours who said maybe tonsillitis as some spots at back of throat. I had no confidence in the Dr so took DS to our hospital for sick kids A&E who said throat was very swollen. Prescribed penicillin and advised calpol and ibuprofen to be taken. In the morning before we gave him the antibiotic he was back to life eating normally with no temperature. We took him to the gp to check throat and advised that it looks slightly red but not swollen and not to give antibiotic.
That was this afternoon and although he does not have a temperature he has had really watery poos and has had a massive sick while reading our bedtime book.

I am really worried about him but don't know if this is normal and to just leave him in bed or if this is maybe a sign of something more serious. He has never been ill before very rarely has even a sniffle but I think he has quite a high pain threshold as when he gave blood as a baby he didn't flinch so im worried that he is sore and not telling us.

Hi. It is horrid when the little ones are unwell so I really feel for you. If he isn't running a temperature and has been drinking enough fluids then I would probably just keep an eye on him. I would presume if there was poo explosions that it was prob not tonsillitis but having said that a) I am not a doctor and b) my own DD has had tonsillitis a fair few times and can get such a high temperature with it that she has been repeatedly sick. Is he in your room? If you are very worried I would have him sleep in with you tonight. You will feel more at ease then. And honestly, if you are still concerned that he is not his normal self, then do go back to the GP. I hope this helps.

Thanks ineedoftea you have made me feel better in that I'm not paranoid!

I slept on his floor last night just to be sure! He is much better today although overly hyper but I will take that over completely listless any day! Two more explosive poos today and extremely hungry all day which is unlike him. No fever no sick and rash looks like its away! Hopefully he is now on the mend!

Thank you for your concern ladies.
Xx
