Dd is 6yo. She has a severe headache and a fever. I took her to the doctors at teatime and was told she has a viral infection but to take care as her symptoms can be the start of something more serious ie meningitis. I was told to look for a rash that doesn't go when pressure is applied, sensitivity to light and a stiff neck. She is restless and still complaining that she has a headache. She has just said her neck feels stiff but im not sure if this is because she has just woken up.
I am not sure whether to just continue giving her paracetamol and ibuprofen as directed or if I should seek further advice either now or in the morning as the headache isnt shifting and she is so distressed. Thanks for any advice

Definitely inform them immediately about the stiff neck. I dithered about my son's symptoms, partly because it was the middle of the night and I didn't want to bother anyone. It was meningitis and I wish I Acted sooner. Better be on safe side.

Hope she is okay Daisypops, both of mine have just had a horrible virus, where the main symptons were a fever, headache, painful neck and painful limbs. Has taken them quite a few days to get over it.

How is she now?
