Hi just wanting a bit of advice with my 2 year old son.

Yesterday he was sick twice bringing all of his tea up, he was fine through the night but this morning when he has got up he has had bad diorreah with mucus in it, he is very unhappy and not himself. I have given him dry cereal and cooled boiled water to drink he has not been sick again but as I say the diorreah is quite bad. Just wondering if I should worry with it having mucus?

Thanks

Have you tried dialyte to settle the diarrhoea? Can buy over counter at chemist and they can give advice - there is always an emergency chemist open in area if unsure of nearest check nhs website There are quite a few bugs going around. Is the mucus clear or coloured? Best if had diarrhoea and sickness sometimes to stick to clear fluids for 24 hours then reintroduce food know difficult with little ones as they want to eat everything can get their hands on

The mucus is due to the fact that the intestines are inflamed due to the bug. He might have this for a day or so and then it will settle. If he hasn't been sick since yesterday afternoon, then it is unlikely that he will be sick again. Often the diarrhoea is the 'end' of the bug clearing out.

I agree with sticking to clear fluids - stay away from milk and any dairy products as they feed the bug. If he is hungry try plain things like toast, dry crackers or biscuits and plain potato.

Hope he is better soon - it is horrible when they are ill.
