Serial plaster casting for tip toe walking - any success stories?

My child has just had this done and it's proving very hard . I never asked about success rates as I wanted to hope for the best.

Does it get easier over the weeks? - he's not sleeping at the moment and can barely walk.

Thanks

Is it for CMT reup? My nephews and nieces have had it done with mixed results. The problem is that calf muscles need to be worked to prevent wasting. My nephews and nieces have all ended up having tendon lengthening surgery which was largely successful.
My own kids have had milder problems with tip toe walking which has been successfully dealt with by continuous use of night splints. They have avoided surgery and walk fine.

I don't know what cmt is, sorry so it's probably not that!

He had physio and night splints but he hated them and we wimped out after nights of tears. He wore them for an hour every day. The exercises helped but he couldn't get out if the habit of tip toeing.
A couple of relatives had it but I've had surgery to cut Achilles in the 70s and another grew out if it.

CMT is a hereditary neuromuscular condition that can cause tiptoe walking. I do appreciate it is hard with the night splints (my sister couldn't hack it with niece and nephews), but having had to have quite a bit of surgery myself I was quite determined my kids would tough it out with the night splints. He might find them easier after he's had the plaster cast. Thinking about it, none of my lot walk on their toes now, and probably haven't since they were 9 or 10, so don't worry too much.

Aah OK, thanks. I think he may well have grown out of his night splints but I have to book physio after the last lot of casting so will discuss it then.
