Conjunctivitis in 11mo

My 11mo DS has watery, sticky eyes this morning that are also a bit pink and puffy. I'm waiting for a callback from NHS direct as I'm unsure whether we have to have a prescription to get anything to treat it. In the meantime, I thought I'd ask the wise souls of MN - can I get anything OTC for baby conjunctivitis or does it look like we are in for a trip to the OOH GP?

Why do these things always happen on a Saturday?!

A few drops of breastmilk always did the trick when mine were little.

Ah! I forgot about that tip, I remember doing that when he was tiny. I am still BF, so off to try that now. Thanks!

Turns out that was the advice from NHS direct too Grin Poor baby gave me the strangest look as I hovered over his head with my boob out!

Oh good, I'm glad it was useful. It's magic stuff. DS(10) had a stye recently so I expressed a few drops and put it in a clean calpol syringe. For some reason he took exception to me chasing him round the house with my left boob out. Grin
