Oral thrush won't go! 3 months and counting!

Any tried and tested advice? Tried 3 lots of nystain, 3 lots of factoring and tried replacing bottles on docs advice (LO mixed fed) Can't shift it! V. Thick on tongue and he seems to be fussing a lot on boob so we have had to up the formula feeds from 1 a day to 3, which I really didn't want to do as now my supply is dwindling massively. Just wondered if anyone has been in the same boat and has any miracle cures for us. Thanks. :)

Did you have Daktarin for your nips, or only for his mouth?

Just for him. Should I be applying it to my books as well?

I was treating DS2's thrush with various lots of nyastin and it just wasn't going. felt like i was doing something wrong, we were ff on demand and it was hard to leave it to work between feeds as it seemed like I'd just dripped it on and had to wash it off again with more milk.

We then saw the paediatric specialist gp at our local surgery who told me it wasn't actually thrush, just a natural coating, and I shouldn't bother treating. I was a bit since all the midwives, health visitors, and another gp at his surgery had seen and commented but I did stop with the drops and it hasn't got any worse.

When DS1 had thrush I was bf and it hurt my nips too, made them blueish as opposed to their usual rosy pink colour. The LC at the feeding clinic at the hospital recommended another gel (can't remember name, sorry, but someone here will know), with an explanatory leaflet to take to the gp as it was not usually prescribed for such.

Sorry missed that the paed specialist was at the 8wk check and DS2 is now 11wks.

Might be worth reposting in breast & bottle feeding? Will go now.

Maybe it's the same with us dizzy as my boobers feel fine and look the same (other than heading south!) as they always have. When we have run out of treatment and he has had to wait a few days for docs appointments to get more it doesn't seem to have got much worse.

I would have thought if its in h's mouth, it'd be on your nips.
You can get Daktarin cream for the nips and used the oral gel too.
I found Nystatin useless. A hcp friend also had experience of it, and said it was crap.

That should be his, not h's.

You definitely need to both be treated. If topical creams don't do the job you can get oral antifungals for you both.
