DD1 is 10. She tends to get constipated regularly. And she's just told me tends to "force" it out. She also tends to bleed a tiny bit frequently when she goes. Tonight she called me up because she was sore in that area. So I had a look and it looks like she has 2 small thin flaps of skin (one at the top of the anus and one at the bottom) that are almost covering the hole. IYSWIM. They're not inflamed, but must be what is causing her to bleed. Do I need to get her checked out by the GP? She's very reluctant to have someone looking down there.

Yes, take her to the GP. A female one, if she prefers. She will be horribly embarrassed, poor kid, but she will survive.

my DD (5yrs) has had similar trouble. GP prescribed mild laxative which helped a lot. I think they can do more radical things if that doesn't work. But it is definitely possible to get this sorted.

Your poor DD, please take her to the GP they will prescribe a laxative which will help. I'm not sure about the skin flaps, could they be piles from the straining?

Pinklemon · 21/08/2013 09:23

The skin flaps might be anal skin tags.
