5-year Old Napping Late Afternoon

My very active 5.8 year old DS has taken to having the odd afternoon nap late in the day - he's asleep as I type, and he tends to do it 2-3 times a week. He had one yesterday too - usually for about an hour.

Is this normal? I am driving myself crazy worrying that this is a symptom of something and my DH thinks I'm losing it as I worry about all the bruises he has too.

I'm not sure if it's normal but my 5yo has reverted to napping during the holidays too. Totally exhausted. I've started trying to prevent the naps now, as it has really messed up night time sleep.

I have heard a few friends' 5yos have been napping too.

What bruises?

I'd get him checked out.

I guess he has all the usual bruises a normal child of his age would get.

My almost 5 year old never stopped napping! Started school today, half day and came home and slept for an hour. He's always been an early riser though so I just put it down to that. No idea how I'll keep him awake when he goes full days.
He is also constantly knee to ankle bruises, just likes climbing. I don't think anything you've mentioned is unusual or anything to worry about.

Oh. I thought you meant unexplained bruises. Why are you worried about them then??

If he doesn't normally nap and it isn't just a virus then I think I'd probably get him checked out in case he's deficient in something.
