High temp in 5 yr old

My dd is 5 and complained of being thirsty before going to bed. She settled quickly and now a few hours later she is asleep but has a high temp. She got back from Spain on Monday and had hives when she was there. Could this be related? Am I being paranoid? Shall I leave her asleep?

did she sleep through night?

cleoismycat · 14/08/2013 10:17

no, she came into me at around 230am complaining of a headache. She still had a high temp so I gave her ibuprofen and she slept with me. She's ok this morning and has gone to summer club happliy enough but I've let them know in case she feels poorly again.

thanks for asking x

Has she had chicken pox? I remember my DS2 being really poorly for about a week leading up to spots coming out.

They pick up that many bugs though at that age- it could be anything! hope she is ok x

What is her temp?

cleoismycat · 14/08/2013 13:23

Her temp is fine now but it was 38.9 last night. She has had chicken pox.

Sorry, but it beats me why you sent her to a club today after she has just had chickenpox and such high fever last night.

Well, probably because her mother needs to go to work! It probably isn't a 'hobby' club but necessary childcare that allows her mother to put food on the table. If the chicken pox is gone and the temperature was normal in the morning I would probably do the same, I'm afraid. Children often fight things off in a few hours, and if the DD is really ill the mum will get a phone call anyway...

Crossed wires I think, she had chickenpox 2 years ago.
