Took dd2 (10mo) to the opthomotrist (sp) 2 months ago regarding a possible squint. During the examination there was mention that she cannot look up, there seemed to be too much skin on her eye lids and that her sight was no where near where it should be. I was told not to worry re the sight as it was done at the end of a 20 min test and could just be dd not playing ball as she was bored and was also nor very happy at just having a patch over her eye.

She was referred to the hospital for further tests and a second look at her eyes.

I've taken her today and the opthomotrist (sp) has diagnosed her with third nerve palsy and referred her to the consultant for a possible op.

They've said there are 3 options, just operate on her eyelids and hope that helps but possibly may require a second surgery. Operate on the nerve and the eye lids and then monitor once a month to see if she requires glasses. Final option is to give her glasses and monitor the situation.

Has anyone else been in this position or has experience of what is more likely of the three options?

Tia.
