Nasty cough not clearing up

My dd has had a chesty cough for over three weeks now, would it be reasonable to take her to the doctor? She does not cough all that often, ( several times per day rather than per hour) and is not feeling poorly but she is fed up of it.

Dd (2) has the same, I'm beginning to wonder if its allergy related.

If she isn't unwell and her breathing is fine then I'd be tempted to try piriton first and see what happens?
