Is it chicken pox?

My DD aged 17months has developed a rash around her bum, mostly inner thigh/buttocks, not right near genitals. It came up last night, is a bit worse today, with one or two sort of whiteheads. Then she has a vague spot in one armpit, and is very grizzly, has been up twice so far this evening, yelling and miserable.

No temperature, no spots on abdomen, arms, legs or face, but seems to have a sore mouth, and won't eat much which is v uncharacteristic!

She spent a day two weeks ago with a kid who developed the pox a day later, so that's why I think it might be-but how quick does it come on normally after you see the first spots? this is a good 30hours and they're only slightly worse than when i first saw them? It's not exactly galloping which I thought it would be. We are meant to be going on holiday on Monday...

All knowledge gratefully noted!

It sounds like it could be, especially if she has been in contact with CP in the last 2 weeks. DS took 5 days from first 3 spots to full on fever, head to toe spots and overall misery at 3.5 yo. Between days 1-5 nothing happened, on the 5th day it was like a horror movie with spots popping up as you looked at him.

2 weeks later, DD took 12 hours from first spots to the same, she was 17 months.

Could it be hand foot and mouth ? Sometimes you get those in nappy area too.

Fwiw ds had two teeny pimples for 3 days then suddenly was absolutely covered with pox. Dd on the other hand just woke up covered in them straight away.
