AIBU plus newborn penis

The tip of my newborn penis is red and swollen. Nothing major, but it is not as it was until a few days ago. I searched on MN last night, found out that it could be X (sorry, I don't remember the name of the condition), had a look at pictures of penises with that condition on google (!!!), and although it did not look like those pictures I don't know anything about it or about newborns, so I booked an appointment to see a gp in my surgery today.
Well, I got in, I told him I was there for my son, and that I had three questions. He told me that that was an emergency surgery and that he might not be able to have the time for them all. I already did not like that, but told him what I was there for (the other two points were minor questions that I thought I might as well ask given that I was there), got the baby undressed, and while I was doing so he commented that my pram looked expensive. Hum. He looked at my son, said 'I don't know really', told me it did not look problematic, and to put whatever cream I use on him on it and see whether it gets better.
Apart from the fact that I will make sure not to book another appointment with that doctor, his words did not inspire me confidence. AIBU to expect a bit more care/interest for my child, even though it might not be anything important?
In any case, has this ever happened to your son? Did you just wait for it to pass? How long did it take?

Thank you!

I think you're right about the GP - if he didn't know what it was he should have at least told you how long to wait before getting it seen again. My DS8 recently had the same problem and got a very different response. I was given some antibiotic cream and told to come back in a week if it hadn't cleared up. While it was not serious it did need dealing with sympathetically.

If it is still red in the morning I would book another appointment for Friday - obviously with another GP.

DS2 had this. It was balanitis. We were told to use daktarin cream and keep the nappy off if you can. He was in SCBU at the time so he weed and pooed on their sheets not mine! Your GP sounds like a cock. He could do with a dose of balinitis too.

Oh, it went after a few days but we used the cream for a few days longer.

Thanks a lot, this is really helpful. I will book another appointment with a different gp today!
