Sunken ridge on head

Hiya,

My 8 week old has suddenly got a bit of a sunken ridge at the front of his skull just above his forehead. He has fed a bit less than normal today, partly because he was asleep for most of the morning, but he is alert, kicking around, weeing plenty.

I know a sunken fontanelle can be a sign of dehydration but he seems absolutely fine. Should I be worried?

Thanks.

How sunken? Dd used to get like this sometimes.

Is his skin tone fine? You said he's alert. Just try to give him a bit more milk

It's not massively sunken but in this hot weather I guess I'm just on high alert for dehydration so possibly panicking a bit. Skin tone seems good and he's very alert. Good idea, will just try to keep feeding to be on the safe side.

Sunken fontanelle (afaik) is only an issue when accompanied by other symptoms such as listlessness etc.

Keep feeding, but if you are concerned speak to your OOHGP

Brilliant. Thanks so much. Listless he is definitely NOT! :-)

You're welcome Smile

Hope he's ok
