Recurring diarrhea in 3 year old

I had a call from my song nursery to say he had diarrhea over a week ago. He came home and had a slightly soft poo but was feeling fine. No tummy ache or temperature and he has been eating and drinking normally.

The next day he had diarrhea again an stage next it seemed to improve. He then had 2 days off nursery and I stayed off work to be with him he was fine. Since hen he seems to have not had an entirely solid stool and then tonight when he went to the toilet it was a combination of solid bits and brown water.

I've had stomach problems for months now and the doctor thought it was ibs. I've had blood tests and they ahowed I'm anaemic so in on tablets to treat that. I'm due to have a sigmoidoscopy in a couple of weeks and have had more tests to rule out coeliac disease (only done today)

I suppose what I'm asking is could the two be linked?

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Has a GP done a stool test? Dd had recurring diarrhoea and had 2 issues, undiagnosed allergies (to wheat and dairy) and giardia. Both were missed by our repeated trips to the GP (the stool test wasn't detailed enough and it can take several) but a private appointment for something else revealed the issues quickly. Unlikely but mentioning as am cross and upset we were repeatedly told it was toddler diarrhoea

Could it be teething
