Heatrash, 6 week old baby

Hello, I was hoping someone could give me some tips on helping DD (6 wks) get comfy.

She's developed heatrash over her head and neck, I think where our skin touches while BF. At the moment she's in a nappy in a cool shady room and is quite cool. She's BF little and often today and has had proper wet nappies so I don't think she needs OOH at the moment.

Is the rash likely to be itchy or sore? What do you normally do with a heatrash?

Plenty of lukewarm water to wipe it off and dry by patting gently. Stripped to nappy and in a cool room is a very good start.
I didn't BF, so I'm not sure about how to help there. Maybe put a small piece of muslin between boob and baby's head? Clean your boob iwth lukewarm water, too, perhaps just before you bf.

I hope you can (both) cool off and continue enjoying the bf Thanks

My baby has the same thing and is 6 weeks old. The rash won't be bothering her, it's usually caused by moisture and in this heat its hard to avoid it.
Just keep it clean and dry.
Iv found using a little barrier cream (but nowhere near her mouth or eyes) on the area helps keep it down.

Thanks both, needed a bit of reassurance I was doing the right thing! DS wasn't a summer baby so this is new to me. DD is lovely and cool now Smile

Try feeding lying down, takes a bit of practise but is less cuddled up than other positions therefore i always find it a little cooler.

Thanks, will give that a go - hadn't thought of it.
