Blood results CRP

Does any one know what a normal CRP result would be for a child ? Called to dr as daughter has raised but want to know by how much , many thanks

Less than 3. Easily googled. Lots of Info about CRP Hope DC is OK

Its 8 in an adult......I'd have thought it would be the same in a child but not 100%

Well I just googled to see if I could find a paed value and what I found suggests anything under 10 is OK.

So therein lies the problem with google. Easily googled but not always accurate.

Article I found also says 10 for adults so if that's right and its the same for kids and adults I'd say 8!

Not that there's a big difference between 8 and 10. When my dad gets very poorly his CRP hits over 400.

Hi I have the print out from Dr to take to consultant says 79 mg/L , tried to goggle but have nt found what I was looking for , get more sense from here xx

79 is raised but I'm sure there's lots of reasons why it could be raised. Even things like a normal cold will raise CRP. Hopefully your apt is soon and everything is OK.

We have been with gt Ormond street and local hospital before , it's just she has flares of pain and this is the first time I have managed to get her to GP s in time whilst happing to get the bloods GOSH wanted. So it's a step in the right direction in a weird way ! X

Anything over ten is raised.. If your having an infection it will go up in the hundreds (400 etc). It's often looked at with white blood cells levels to gauge an infection. CRP is a lagging indicator, it stays high later than white bloods once you are on the mend. I hope your DC gets better soon!

Where is the pain?

She has aching joints all the time and then episodes of extreme pain , often accompanied with rashes and then nodules left behind or the rashes turn into bruises . She looks ok but eye sight was 20/20 in march and we are now on second prescription 0f glasses . She has mouth ulcers, and fatigue etc, etc . It's been and is a slog, but we are getting there.

Have they suggested what this maybe?

Sounds very like that we went throught with my daughter when she was first diagonsed with JIA. Juvenile Idopathic Arthritis x

As you may know.. High CRP denotes some infection or inflammation in the body.. This sounds as if there may be some chronic inflammation going on which could be due to several conditions which can be checked out by blood tests etc..if it is all mainly in the joints it may be a childhood inflammatory arthritis but I presume you are under the paeds team then who are looking into it all?

Been ruled out as has lupus and most forms of vasculitis , they have said they have an idea but its rare and will need further investigation. Going into hosp next week for 3 days to have bone scans, gentic and DNA markers , and a whole load of other tests. She has been ill for nearly a year and before that had glandular fever ( she is 7 now) at 6 and horrendous tonsillitis at 3 &1/2 yrs to 5 when they took them out . She then last year had adenoids removed as they where rotten ad causing snoozing etc.

Snoring ! Blaming computers x

Im sure you have, but have a quick look at systemic onset juvenile arthritis and see what you think x

Does she have ulcers anywhere other than her mouth. Those symptoms would likely give a raised CRP. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon
