A day of son's Prednisolone for wheezy chest wasted, what to do....

Hi, son was put on 5 days worth of Prednisolone soluble tablets for his wheezy chest. He took yesterday's no problem but today we probably only managed to get half (if that) down him. What should I do?
Can I go back to pharmacy and explain what's happened and get an extra days worth - I'm happy to pay for them. Should I do another dose today and then fill out a repeat prescription form at doctors surgery and explain on the form what happened. Or, do you think the 4 days will be ok? He has an inhaler as well if tgat makes any difference. Cheers guys :)

I would ring your gp. Why could you not get them into him, did he throw them up or just not take them? I find it a struggle to get them into ds also, although mixing them in strong juice helps ( and warning him he could end up in hospital again if he doesn't take them :) ) He's thrown them up a few times also but I've never got the extra day or whatever. I just leave the course and wait and see if he needs a second course or not.

Sorry that should say continue the present course. Baby distracted me with Peppa Pig Grin Maybe I've been doing the wrong thing though so ask your gp if you're worried.

I doubt they will give you more as you don't know how much he has had. From experience I know a little bit of spat out pred goes a long way. Don't give more today.

I would wait and see how he is at the end of the course and then go back for more if needed.

Yes, I agree - finish the 5 days worth and then go back for more at the end if you think he isn't better.

Don't give him more today, you really can't accurately assess how much he has taken.

As others have said, review how he is at the end of the course.

Cheers guys. He gagged on it so brought quite a bit up. He's a very very stubborn boy and if he doesn't want to take something he won't. Luckily, it hasn't resulted in hospital, was just given to him in case it results in that. Will continue and see how he gets in, he's sounding better today, just didn't want to ruin that by missing a dose :)
Thanks, again.
