I think my son may have an ear infection. He's six months. There was green gunk that I thought was coming out of it last night. No more since though so is possible was snot he'd rubbed across his face. We have doc appt at 4pm. Anything I can do to alleviate his pain until then or just calpol?

Calpol and ibroprofin. You can alternate them. Ibroprofin's fine from 6 months.
My ds had ear infections almost continually from 10 weeks, I found carrying him round, skin to skin contact was the best for him. He would put his sore ear against me and that seemed to help (unless it was both ears).
When older, a hot waterbottle against the effected ear helps, but I never liked doing that with one so small, added to the fact he always had a temperature.

I feel your pain as my 6 month old had a burst ear drum last week and it was horrible for him. Once you've got antibiotics they kick in quite quickly, so hopefully your LO will be feeling a bit better by tomorrow.
