i have a 20 month old who has a constant runny nose for around two hours when she wakes up in the morning every day and then it stops. also accompanied by noisy breathing.....sounds as if she has phlem in the back of her throat.also noticed over the last few days that noisy breathing is becoming more frequent during the day but displaying no other symptoms of being unwell? i rang the doctors surgery on friday and they reassured me that this sounds "normal" but over the weekend my gut feeling is saying a trip to the doctors is needed? what would you do?

It sounds to me like an allergy. My DD had asthma up her nose (as well as on her chest) and her nasal symptoms were as you describe. She was given a nasal spray by the gp which improved things in a few days, and she was a lot happier.

If I were you, I would make an appointment to have her seen. Hope that helps.
