my little girl is 8wks and since birth has had a rash around her neck were the chest skin and chin skin rubs even using bibs and creams the doctors have given me isnt working it looks really sore and is getting very red and it has spread down her chest and up to her face now can anyone recomend a cream other than sudocream that the health visitor and nurse have said to use. one doctor said it was exczema another said just dry skin. it could be an allergic reaction but think most of it is just heat/sweat rash as she has no neck poor thing! any ideas?

Hi, my daughter had similar when she was a baby. Just grew out of it when her neck slimmed down. As lovely as their little chubby necks are they can get a bit sweaty and rashy :(

We just tried to keep it clean and dry so wiped up any dribble/milk but with a cloth and water rather than a wet wipe as you have to be really gentle with the area. We also took care to make sure it was completely dry after a bath by wiping with a towel. GP did give us a steroid cream which we used when it flared up badly but generally we didn't need to use it. What we did use on it though was a lovely, gentle and soothing emollient called Epaderm, prescribed by GP.

If she's a dribbler I can recommend the Tommee Tippee bibs with the little collar, they're perfect for catching anything that'd otherwise trickle down into her neck.
