I think my 8 week old DS might have lip tie but this is mine own diagnosis. Where do I go to to get this looked at and potentially treated? My bf councillor couldn't really help (although she specialises on tounge tie and its treatment). I have read it is not routinely treated on nhs....any knowledge on subject welcome! :)

hello Smile

both my boys are lip-tied although ds1 (4.5 yo) more tightly than ds2 (23 mo). Ds 1 has quite a pronounced gap between his teeth. Ds1 also had tongue tie which loosened itself and now appears to be normal (was extremely painful in the early bf-ing days)

Er I have no knowledge actually Blush It dosn't seem to have affected speech though or feeding for either boy. No plans to see about treatment although I do wonder about the affect on adult teeth and whether ds1s gap will be more noticable.

John Roberts at Cote Royd Dental practice in Huddersfield or Malcolm Levenkind in North London are both dentists who will laser a lip tie if needed.

Is there a tongue tie too? They usually go hand in hand, although, of course, there will be some who have a lip tie and no tongue tie.
