For the past couple of week my DN (nephew) age 5 has been itching his bum and willy continuously. BIL took him to docs, he got thrush cream for foreskin area as was red and itchy. Been using this for about a week and he's still itching.

He also itching his bum, all day, doesn't wake in the night though! Dsis had a look for worms but couldn't see anything and wasn't red or inflamed etc And he says it's on his bum cheeks that's itching, not his actually bum hole (sorry tmi Blush )

Dsis can't get docs appointment till next Friday, so what can she do? Should she just worm him and see? The other thing is though, he has excema (sp?) and she has recently about a month ago, changed from fairy to ariel and comfort. He has about 5/6 red dots on his bum but no dry skin etc.

Any ideas wise mnetters? TIA

Have to say DS2 always got red bumps on his bum (almost like flea bites) when he had worms.. never made his willy itch though, so maybe deworm and go back to the fairy too, at least she'll eliminate them from the possible causes if it continues.

can make willy itch, just get the worm killing pills.

I doubt it's worms if someone has looked while he's itching and none can be seen. I can't see how worms could make his buttocks itch and not around his bum.

Does he still wear nappies at night? could be an allergic reaction to them.

When did he 'look'? As worms don't come out until evening mostly. Check again, get little lad to lie in his back and bring his knees up, and have a really good look.
My oldest dd has had worms frequently.. Nail biter!
Worms can make you quite grumpy and it can cause bed wetting too.
We 'broke' the cycle by buying all in one sleep suit for her, so she wouldn't get any eggs on her nails/fingers when she itched her bum at night. It breaks the cycle ..
Whilst giving worm treatment. Boil wash bedding and towels and flannels and pj bottoms. Think about all in one pj's for him.
People also so wash bottoms in the morning.
Someone also said pumpkinseeds are great for getting rid of worms!
Lots of advice on here about worms, if it is worms.
Just get them to keep checking his bottom. They might not always crawl out . You have to look right 'in' there.
Sorry for tmi.
It's very common for kids to have worms. Tell them not to panic about it.
I would also go back to fairy washing powder too just on the safe side.
