3yr old old won't walk after broken leg

My 3 year old DD has had a plaster cast on her broken leg for the last 4 weeks. It was taken off yesterday morning but she seems unable to walk. We have coxed her into trying today but it seems very awkward and painful for her. I'm guessing her joints are very stiff because the doctor was quite happy that the bone is healing well. Does anyone have any experience of this or any suggestions as to how we can help her rehabilitate? She's very reluctant to try, preferring to crawl or asking to be carried.

It probably feels really strange to her having her leg back. Maybe get her kicking some water in the bath to get moving, and let her do her own thing for the time being re crawling. She will soon want to be standing, especially if you strategically place toys say on the sofa so she has to stand to reach them etc. Once she gets the confidence back she'll most likely be off and keeping you busy again!

Would it be worth taking her swimming to get her kicking her legs?

I know how she feels. Had one removed today. When the plaster is removed you feel completely unsupported. Can't even bear the thought of the weight of a duvet on my leg tonight. And taken so many painkillers today , it's truly horrible. I'm even putting off walking to the loo. If there was someone here to carry me I'd badger them into a firemans lift. Give us time we'll get used to it GrinGrinGrin
