Hi there, my dd who is 6 has to have a barium swallow test and I wondered whether anyone had any experience or advice for us. Thank you in advance.

my child has had 2. If they are not feeling co-operative, and to be frank, the stuff is vile, make sure you are wearing an apron. We looked like we'd been spray painted after the ordeal! They will get her to drink the liquid in sips and move to various positions (or lie as the table is moved). An unco-oprative child + thick white liquid = hideous mess.

We're about to have one of these too. Not sure what to expect but guess it can't be as bad as lumber punctures, bonemarrow & muscle biopsys so hoping dd cooperates
