Ear wax

My 8 month old son has a clump of ear wax deep in his ear,, when my five year old had the same thing I was advised to put olive oil in his ear is this say to do with my 8 month old??

It is fine, and it works, if you make a hot (warm)water bottle after putting in the oil, if you then get him to lie with the ear on the wrapped(towel) bottle it will help the wax get moving.
