All-over spotty rash- 4 month old

My DD had spots on her neck yesterday which I thought was due to irritation from a wet bib, but yesterday evening I noticed that her chest and belly also had red spots.
This morning the spots are spreading up her face and down her arms and legs. The new spots are small and red but the older spots have got bigger and the middle is white skin, not a blister or a whitehead.
I thought it might be chicken pox but no blisters have developed. She is feeding fine, no fever and seems perfectly well apart from the spots. No new washing powder or anything like that.

Any ideas?

DD had a rash last week when getting over a d&v bug. It was on her chin and torso and was lots of raised red bumps. The doctor said it was a viral rash and as long as it blanched (glass test) not to worry.

My DS had a very alarming rash when he was about 13 months, the doctor was unconcerned and said as long as it blanches not to worry.

Having said all that, if concerned i would get her checked out. Hope it is better soon.

My four month old also had a similar thing. Rash started, but she was well in herself. I took her to baby clinic and they advised me it was baby acne! I was a bit sceptical of this because it was all over torso.

A few days later, she started to come down with a general cold, which didn't seem too bad. Two days later, she had a terrible d and v bug and became a bit dehydrated with a high temperature. Have just spent night in a and e with little one, and she seems to be on the mend now. As twenty said, they weren't worried about rash because it blanched, but just might be worth keeping an eye on your little ones temperature over next couple of days. Will be going back to health visitor to put her right!

I would go to the GP and check this out. just to be on the safe side.

Thanks all, will phone the GP in the morning as they don't seem to be going, although as it blanches they'll hopefully say it's normal and one of those baby things. Hope it's not the start of something horrible, and hope your DD gets well soon, Sodabread!
