7 week old, lethargic sleeping all day

Hi there

Hope you can offer some advice. I am a constantly worried first time mum!
My 7 week old DD had been v sleepy for past few days - waking for feeds (taking a bit less than usual) but falling asleep straight away after feeding where usually she would want to play a bit. She's a bit sniffly and doing the odd sneeze so presume it is just a cold. This morning I've woken up with a horrid sore throat so maybe she has this and that'd explain why she's taking less milk (FF).
Is thee anything I should be doing apart from waiting it out. I reckon she's been off for 3 days now. Should I take her to gp or is this just all normal. How long should I expect her to be like this for?

It's probably nothing but I would always rather be safe than sorry at this age. No GP will tell you off for bringing in such a tiny baby if you are at all worried.

Agree with Bedhanger. Please also check her temperature. Lots of children sniff these days because of the blossom but I do not know about babies whether they can suffer from hey fever.

Thanks i have just made a dr appt for this afternoon. I don't think she has a temperature but better to be safe I agree!

What did the doctor say? Lethargy always needs to be checked out in a baby this young.

Said she just has a cold and to give calpol

Calpol should be given only if there is temperature high for their age.

Well no, ssaw2012, calpol can also be used for general pain relief. Doctor has recommended it, maybe the baby has aches, sore throat, too.
