Both my dcs are streaming with hay fever and one has an eczema flare up so unless your dc has a temperature I would say hay fever

We were given piriton for my under two for hay fever last week.

incywincyspideragain · 06/05/2013 22:20

not sure if this helps or not but I took ds when he was 12 months to docs as his face was all puffy and she thought it was hayfever (this time of year) - with a bit of trial and error (because I wanted to avoid medicines) it turned out he was sensitive to parmesan cheese (in fact all hard cheeses) he's still dairy intollerant - worth thinking if there has been any other potential 'irritant' introduced recently

BeaWheesht · 06/05/2013 22:47

Ds had cetirizine on prescription under 2 and dd had piriton under 2 when she had chickenpox

Beamur · 06/05/2013 22:50

You can buy without prescription anti-histamines suitable for children from 1 year old. I have liquid cetirizine in my first aid cupboard suitable from 1 yr old.

stealthsquiggle · 06/05/2013 22:55

Go to the GP, then. DS had one or other of the anti histamines on prescription before he was 1.

Sirzy · 06/05/2013 23:00

The citrizine DS has been prescribed says that it isn't suitable for under 2s.

Beamur · 06/05/2013 23:06

The one I have is Chlorphenamine Maleate (not cetirizine after all - got that wrong) and is 2mg per 5ml of syrup.
With dosing guidance of a max amount allowed per day of 5ml in 2 doses.
