Eczema - can Epiderm hurt?

My 2 year old daughter has recently developed terrible Eczema on her face, arms and chest. The doctor gave us Epiderm and hydrocortisone cream but she really complains it hurts her face when I apply the Epiderm and starts crying and rubbing it off!! I know this can happen with 'white creams' but, has anyone else experienced this with the Epiderm Ointment??

Not with epiderm ointment no, but Diprobase seems to make my DD itch worse rather than soothing her skin. With DS we went through 3 or 4 different ointments before we found one that was effective.

Epaderm used to make DS1's skin sore, I would recommend trying something else, you may need to try a few emollients to find the one that's best for her. We use Doublebase.

You could try 50/50 cream. It's a lot oilier than epiderm so easier to apply. My DD hasn't complained that epiderm hurts but it's thicker so harder to apply than 50/50. Might just be the feeling she doesn't like. It is quite heavy/thick on the skin.

My DD screamed the place down with double base on her face. It's quite cooling on the body but her face is just so sensitive she couldn't tolerate it.

DS allergic to Diprobase / 50/50 and Epaderm cream. Epaderm ointment is ok-ish, but his dermatologist has now prescribed Aveeno and steroids which are working better - he has what they think is paediatric psoriasis though.

Anything with petroleum hurt my DS. Earth friendly baby cream was the only thing that worked for him. Unfortunately it seems to be so individual so I hope you find something that works for your DD soon.

Epiderm really hurts me. I use cetroban as my base cream, or double base when my skin gets used to it.
