What is wrong with DD?

DD is 2 almost 3 and has been unwell since Tuesday. I got a call on Tuesday afternoon to say she was very unsettled and they thought she was possibly constipated as she kept saying she needed a poo but only produced some very small ones.

When I collected her she then had an upset stomach which was loose but not watery. Since then she has had a temperature on and off and on one occasion was very sweaty. She has been off her food. Tummy seems to have settled right down.

Every night she has been very unsettled and having awful night terrors (not sure if related to high temperature). Yesterday she woke up with a very red face which looked a bit spotty. A few raised red spots and a couple of small ones just under her bottom lip with white heads. Also developed a rash on her chest and tummy that looks to me like a viral rash.

Today she still has some spots on her face and also has a scabby bit on one side of her nose and underneath. Face doesn't seem quite as red. Her tongue also looks a bit red and she said it was a bit sore. Now she has had three raised red spots with no head come up on her back, tummy and shoulder.

Has anyone got any ideas? I was thinking possibly chicken pox, hand, foot and mouth or impetigo? Any ideas?

Hi, no expert what so ever just going on what I have experienced whilst working in a nursery. What you are describing sounds like chicken pox.
I know if I am poorly/get too hot in my sleep I have night terrors too.
Have you spoken to a doctor or anyone about this? I think she needs to be checked over by someone asap

Maybe you could ring her nursery/child care setting tomorrow and ask if any one else has been poorly and tell them about your daughter. If it is something contagious, they need to let other parents know in case their children are poorly too

I am pretty sure there was a sign up at nursery the week before last saying someone had chicken pox.

There don't appear to be any more spots appearing at the moment and the ones already there don't really appear to have changed in appearance, if anything they possibly look slightly less red. She doesn't seem really unwell in herself today apart from being quite tired and not as hungry as normal. She's been pottering around and playing reasonably happily this afternoon.

She's not due back to nursery until Tuesday by which time I'll hopefully have managed to speak to/see a doctor to get a proper diagnosis and will then advise the nursery accordingly.

no worries :) If some one else had chicken pox about 2 weeks ago then chances are this is what your daughter has as it takes a while to spread and show it self.
I've never had it funnily enough, been in contact with children that got it and I am not immune!

Hope the itching isn't too bad!

Rash and red tongue could be scarlet fever though the raised spots don't fit with this.

I've just got back from doctor and she says she thinks DD has an ear infection and the spots are her eczema flaring up due to being run down rather than anything else.
