Chicken pox in baby?

My 7month old has cp. I'm pretty sure of it but apart from the usual are there any extra risk factors for babies?

it is generally only a risk if they are newborn babies. ds had it at just under 6 months and was fine. He did get shingles at age 3 which is supposed to be more common if they get chicken pox under 1 year.

I let my GP know when my 6mo DC got it. He said to keep an eye on temperature, make sure getting plenty of bm, and that I could give small end of spoon of piriton if itching really bad.

Although he actually had it worse than DC1, it was easier to manage as he didn't pick at the spots and he didn't mind being inside for a week.

Not really, just the usual watch out for high fever or infection.
I heard story of a 2 week old who got it & was fine without complications.

Poxclin for CP

Poxclin was a life saver when DS had CP at 10 months. I hope your LO feels better soon.

Great, I'll bear all that in mind. She's been very grumpy for about a week with terrible nights but seems ok in herself at the moment.

Thankfully she hasn't been near her newborn cousin.

Hope your little one is ok. Our dd had at 9 months and she went on to have shingles at 3yrs. The doctor said there is some evidence that suggests if they have cp before 1yr or whilst being breast fed they may be more likely to develop shingles as children (which is meant to be rare). Something to be aware of for the future anyway.
