Skin lesions on a 4 yo - any ideas?

DD has a couple of skin lesions, small one on her head and a larger (though not big, maybe a cm by .5 cm) on her back. They are reddish round the edges and crusty and yellowish in the middle.

I showed my dad (retired GP) and he diagnosed roseola but just been googling that and looks/sounds nothing like it - no fever, just the two lesions (so far) and sounds like she's too old for roseola.

Any ideas? She seems fine. They look a bit like chicken pox but she's had that.

Psoriasis patches?

Doesn't look similar according to Dr Google.

Impetigo?
Ring worm?

Has she been bitten by any insects recently?

DitaVonCheese · 25/04/2013 15:34

Hmm, impetigo looks closer.

Yes to insect bites - she has maybe half a dozen bites across her chest.

I am wondering about infected insect bites, or allergic reactions due to bites.

Also it's unlikely but has she been biten by any ticks? They can pass on Lyme disease. The rash they cause is a typical 'bull's eye' rash.

I would get her checked by the GP.

Impetigo? Quite common at that age and sometimes needs antibs.
