How serious is measles for under 1's, and how soon after someone catches it do symptoms show?
SIL has been to Swansea where there's an outbreak and she hasn't been immunised so not sure if it's sensible meeting up with 9m/o DS yet? How long would be sensible to wait?

I would wait a couple of weeks, if it were my baby. It takes about 10 days after a person is exposed for the symptoms to appear.

How serious is measles for under 1's? IMO it's a serious illness. Most kids do recover, but they can be very sick for 2-3 weeks. More info here.

Thank you, is there any other places in the UK with big outbreaks to avoid?

As far as I know, it's only Swansea. Even other areas of Wales are not considered to have outbreaks. Here are the figures, if you are interested.
