Slapped Cheek 11 month old?

My son has slapped cheek. His face is bright red, blotchy & swollen & he has the rash all over his body, but he is thrashing his legs uncontrollably & won't stop crying.

I've been to the doc twice, 2nd time this evening. Who says Nurofen/ cal pol alternately & prescribed piriton twice a day. Nothing seems to be working, he is so distressed. I really don't know what to do.

I keep reading that the rash is painless, but not in this case. I am so tired, this has been going on & getting worse since Sunday night, I can't bear to see him so distressed. Any advice would be much appreciated.
