Please can anyone help? My 2 year old son has been on an anti fungal cream for about 4 or 5 months because of a toe fungus but last night woke several times in screaming pain and his big toe is swollen and hard! I took him to A&E where they X-rayed it and said it was just related to the fungal infection keep using the cream and Calpol for the pain. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? How long will it last the poor little fella can't walk and I can't give him Calpol/Calpufren indefinitely. Don't know what else to do!

I'd take him to your GP for a second opinion.

Poor little mite.

Fungal nail infections do take a very long to get rid off, but if I were you I wouldn't want to keep putting the cream on to a very swollen toe. I'd soak it in salty water and keep that foot bare in sandals.
