Soiling in 6 yr old boy

Hi. My 6 yr old occasionally soils himself. He says he can't feel it coming out and on reading about it I am sure it is an overflow type constipation problem as he usually has a really huge poo after it. I'm going to get him to try to go every day but wondered if anyone's child has grown out of this type opting and how you managed it.
Thanks

You need to see the GP about this. It's not usual and you don't want it to worsen.

I agree, see the GP. Movicol worked for my ds1

Hi. Was giving him lactulose for a while and we haven't had any problems for about 6 months. Do you give the movicol regularly or is it only for a short period of time?

We've had some success by introducing toilet time after breakfast and evening meal. Ds sits on the toilet for 5 minutes about ten minutes after eating morning and night, he doesn't have to do anything but he is having much more normal sized regular bowel movements now and hasn't soiled for a good while. Eric website was very helpful.

Movicol is taken daily initially. It is much better than lactulose. Get him to your gp
