He is screaming and crying and trying so hard to poo in his nappy. I've taken his nappy off and tried pumping his legs and rubbing his tummy - I can see the end of the poo in his bottom and it's very hard. He's red in the face and sweating with the exertion and even had a little sleep on my shoulder. He's exhausted and distressed.
How can I help him?

Fresh fruit - pear usually works with us. Lots of water and fresh fruit juice. Poor little man, Hope he has a poo soon!

Warm bath I heard was meant to work and he can do what he needs to do in the bath??

Defintely warm bath and fresh orange juice always helped with DD (strawberries seem to help as well).

Go to a pharmacy and explain the problem I am sure they will be able to help with something such as Lactulose. Constipation is very common in kids this age.

Thanks all - he managed to do a poo - colossal and really hard. Bit of blood, too. Seems much more contented now. Horrible seeing him so upset. Hope he doesn't go through that again!

Poor thing. Smoothies are great for keeping regular. My DD has 1 a day as shes terrible with fruit / veg. We are constipation veterans.
