Cot bed and bedroom safety

My little boy is 17 months old and keep trying to climb out of his cot so I was thinking of changing his cot to a bed with a bed guard on to stop him rolling out of bed when sleeping. My only concern is when he wakes up in the morning to play with his toys and the furniture. Should I be worried? Any suggestions?

Just make sure the room is baby-proofed, they all have to come out of the cot eventually!

You could put him in a baby sleeping bag which limits movement :) also think about stair gates

Any way I can secure his furniture? Worried he's gonna pull something on himself :(

We got some L shaped metal plates from homebase, you screw them into the wall and the top of the furniture (ours were for bookcases) so they can't fall. Only paid about £3.

Yes secure stuff to walls. Consider moving some things out. Also I wouldn't use a sleep bag as he might hurt himself trying to walk in one.
