Painful Eczema in 11 year old boy affecting his sports activities

My son has bad eczema on his legs and it's sore and painful and affecting his ability to play sports. The cold weather seems to exacerbate it and man made material.

On his first trip to GP they px a steroid (for backs of legs) an anti bacterial cream which cleared up over Xmas with little activity (sports) and when it flared up again took him back to GP who suggested putting vaseline on it - which is not practical really.

He bathes in E45

I am going to take him back again but would like any advice for any other good products I can use.

Best thing is keep moisturising.
I know a lot of people hate the petrochemical crap, but I find that 50:50 at night and Cetraben during day are great.
Can you ask GP for dermatology referral?
I have just been referred after 13yrs (had eczema all my life - 40yrs) and their input has been incredible.

I also use steroid ointments to ease breakouts, again from GP.

If you don't like petrochemical, Aveeno is an oatmeal based emollient.

I'd also recommend www.nottinghameczema.org.uk/nsgcce/index.aspx
for advice and support.
