Hi has any one had their dc's nose's cauterised(?sp)

Ds is 8yrs and has had nosebleed problems for over 5 years . We have been to the doctoe and I was given some cream for him to put up his nose ..which did not make much of a difference .

He is having 1-3 a day now and has a slow coagulation problem that is under review so they last 20-30 mins minimum.

He is behind at school as it is and all these times out of lessons and in the medical room is not helping !

I had mine done around about his age..a sort of long matchstick put up my nose ...is it the same procedure these days .

We have not got an app with ENT yet...need to ring GP for a referal but he is under the comm pead who said to get GP to do it .

Hopefully they will as it is now really affecting our lives ....I am not the best person at 4.30 in the morning !!

TIA

hi
gp thinks our ds nose bleeds are due to allergies so he takes a syrup antihistamine from april - sept -it certainly helps-

Hi
Just wondering if you have ever been tested for HHT (Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia)?
It is a blood vessel dissorder where some blood vessels don't form normally (and therefore can bleed), and one of the symptoms is freequent nose bleeds.
I think it might be a good idea to ask if you can be tested for it, or if you can see an ENT doctor who specialises in HHT. It is definately worth discussing with your GP to see if they think it is a possible diagnosis. (hht.org/about-hht/hht-overview/ - for more info on HHT)

I hope your son is seen by a specialist soon and he can start to see an improvement in his health very soon xxx
