My child is due to go into hospital for an op on Friday, nothing serious just routine.

however he has had a 38.5 ish temp and red cheeks for the past two days ( guessing slapped cheek, as its doing the rounds)

he seems ok ish and I have read that once the red rash appears they are no longer infectious, dont know if accurate.

Took to Gp today as I felt he may have a UTI but that was clear.

I dont want o cancel the operation but would hate to risk anything but does anyone know the risks?

If he's unwell they won't anaesthetise him, basically.

I would phone the hospital ward you are due to go to and talk to them. Also, if he's infectious the last place he should be going is hospital. If you turn up on Friday and he's not fit the anaesthetist will cancel you. However they will send you a new date pretty quickly.
