3 month old DD going in for hernia op tomorrow

My 12 week old DD is booked in tomorrow for surgery to fix her inguinal hernia. She was 6 weeks prem so it's not unexpected. I was wondering if anyone else has been through this and wanted to share experiences.

I'm wondering how long the operation will last and how my DD will cope with the following days. She's only 7lbs so needs to feed little and often.

I understand I'll be staying in with her for the night post-op. I'm wondering if this is likely to be on the ward? Slightly anxious about this as I find it hard to cope with one crying baby, never mind more.

I know it's not long until I find out the answers to all this, but forewarned is forearmed etc etc.

Also, any tips on anything particular to pack in the bag?

Thanks for any advise, wise ones.

I cant give advise on your particular procedure but having watched my two best friends babies go through heart operations at 10 days old and 3 months old they don't half bounce back quickly, recovery appears less traumatic than in older children and adults so hopefully it won't be as stressful as you fear. Take a kindle and lots of snacks! Best of luck x
