12yr old DD with flat feet

My 12 yr old daughter has flat feet . It is impossible to find her a pair of school shoes that will accommodate her in soles and look nice.Last September, when she started secondary school, I managed to find one pair which she wears now.....reluctantly, but keeps moaning that the in soles hurt her feet. They are hideous but she wears them. Every year it is a nightmare finding her school shoes.........and now she's ladies size it will get worse.

Does any one else have this problem?
How do you find nice shoes that will take an insole?
Would it be such a big deal not to wear the in sole?

Speaking as someone who has recently acquired insoles, I really wish I had got them when I was your daughter's age. True it is difficult to find shoes they will fit in. Any kind of slip on shoes are no good and they need to have high fronts, preferably lace ups. I have started getting shoes from Fly London which are a bit expensive but last well and do accommodate the insoles. Dr Martens are also good. The shoes should not be completely flat.

If they are hurting her then ask to go back to podiatry for a review. They do take a few weeks to break in so need to be persistent however. If she doesn't wear them she runs the risk if getting knee, ankle, foot and back pain when she is older (like me!).

I don't think I could persuade her to wear Dr Martens or Fly shoes ( although i like them a lot myself) when all her friends are in ballet flats ( which I think are rubbish as school shoes).....
She has had her insoles since last Sept.
What I really need is a nice looking shoe that a 12 yr old will not get teased about at school and as a result will want to wear

DD is 12 and wears brogue style shoes which are perfect for her insoles. I am so pleased that this style of shoe is popular right now. Her podiatrist says that ballet style shoes are awful even foe healthy feet.
